Greece was a catalyst to Truman philosophy because the country stopped receiving financial aid form Britain. He feared that without British help, they could accept communism and help from SSSR and therefore could lead other countries from Europe to follow its example. He decided that the country has to get financial help from the USA and the rest is history.
