What was the geographic obstacle in Simon bolivars conquests

The Andes Mountains are the main geographic feature that kept Bolivar from conquering the region. The Andes were an obstacle even for the Spanish conquistadors. The only group to truly harness the Andes Mountains as a positive and not a huge obstacle were the Inca.
