De Soto and his army left Apalachee on March 3, 1540. By the end of the day, they had gotten just in the southern border – Georgia. When they touched the Flint River, they constructed a basic boat and transported everyone to the western side of the river. From there they continued to the Chickasawhatchee Wetland, where they originated to the kingdom of Capachequi.
