The three concerns that Martin Luther had with the Catholic Church, and the reasons that led him to challenge their authority were the selling of indulgences, the secondary role that the Bible began to play, and the overreaching authority of the Pope. Luther specifically fought to say the Bible was the most notable religious authority and that people could only reach salvation by faith, their good deeds would not get them to Heaven. In spreading this agenda, he sparked the Protestant Reformation.
