Here is an example, hopefully you learn this way: 

Simplify 120/180. Divide both the numerator and denominator by 2 to get 60/90. Divide both the numerator and denominator of 60/90 by 3 to get 20/30. Divide both the numerator and denominator of 20/30 by 5 to get 4/6.
