We are given the two equations:

-9x = 261 – 126y

 

Subtract the two equations:

-9x = 261 – 126y

-

-9x=-19 + 14y

 

0 = 280 – 140y

140y = 280

y = 2

 

From (1):

-x = 29 – 14 (2)

x = -1

y = 2
