Who was john winthrop speaking to in this sermon what do you think is the purpose of this sermon?

He was delivering the sermon to new settlers of the New England Colony. The goal of it was to keep his listeners closer to god and to the puritan ideas. The puritans were like extreme Christians of the time and he believed that they should always keep god close to themselves.
