  A square has four equal sides. The area of a square equals 
the square of the length of a side 
So if the length of a side is s, the area of the square is s^2 
We want s^2 = 56 
so s = sqrt(56) 
you do that on a calculator 
s = 7.4833 
to nearest tenth, s = 7.5
