The equation is [tex] \frac{1}{5}(k-3)= \frac{3}{4} [/tex], we want to find the value of k.

Our aim is to isolate k, so we remove the numbers by dividing, subtracting etc.

Firs multiply both sides by 5, to "get rid" of 1/5:

[tex]\frac{1}{5}(k-3)= \frac{3}{4} \\\\ 5\cdot \frac{1}{5}(k-3)= 5\cdot\frac{3}{4} \\\\k-3= \frac{15}{4} [/tex]

now add 3 to both sides:

[tex]k-3+3= \frac{15}{4}+3\\\\k=\frac{15}{4}+\frac{12}{4}\\\\k= \frac{27}{4} [/tex]
