Find 3 consecutive positive integers such that the product of the first and third integers is 48. Solve algebraically.

let integers be x , x+1 and x+2

x(x + 2) = 48

x^2 + 2x - 48 = 0

(x + 8)(x - 6) = 0

x = 6  ( because the integrs are positive

so the 3 numbers are 6,7 and 8.
