1. Subtract 6 from both sides
10 - 6 = z
2. Simplify 10 - 6 to 4
3. Switch sides
z = 4

14 beause if x=10 and x+y=6 y=-4 so then it is 10=-4+z and you add 4 to each size and you get 14=z
