y-6 = -3(x--8)

Rewrite the equation in slope intercept form:

Y -6 = -3(x - -8)

Use the distributive property on the right side first:

Y -6 = -3x -24

Add 6 to both sides

Y = -3x -18

The slope is the number in front of the x variable.

Slope = -3
