Ernest Hemingway uses vague pronouns and simple language in his writings to reflect the reality of the character's situation in a straight forward manner. He realizes that life is simple - you either do this or that, and there shouldn't be much mulling about it. He wants to convey such messages through his writing, to write about his ideas in a simple, yet highly meditative way.
