Given:

The figure of a right angle triangle ABC.

AB = x, BC=7, m∠B = 90°, ∠C=16°.

To find:

The value of x.

Solution:

In a right angle triangle,

[tex]\tan \theta=\dfrac{Opposite}{Adjacent}[/tex]

In triangle ABC,

[tex]\tan C=\dfrac{AB}{BC}[/tex]

[tex]\tan (16^\circ)=\dfrac{x}{7}[/tex]

[tex]0.28675=\dfrac{x}{7}[/tex]

Multiply both sides by 7.

[tex]0.28675\times 7=x[/tex]

[tex]2.00725=x[/tex]

[tex]x\approx 2[/tex]

Therefore, the value of x is about 2 units.
