What caused the rise of the feudal system in Japan? In your answer, explain what a feudal system is.

The cause of the feudal system was most likely the rise of the imperial Daimyo and the Shogun. The Shogun were Japanese warlords, pretty much. The Daimyo were the royal families. The feudal system was a social hierarchy that had the Japanese emperor at the top and the merchants in the bottom.
