Quadratic formula = (-b +- sqrt(b^2 - (4ac))) / 2a

[tex] \frac{ -12 + \sqrt{(12)^2 -((4)(9)(-24))}}{2(9)} [/tex]

and

[tex] \frac{ -12 - \sqrt{(12)^2 -((4)(9)(-24))}}{2(9)} [/tex]

then simplify and solve
