Explanation;

Plants need energy all the time, they need it to grow, reproduce and do just about anything. This is where photosynthesis comes in, plants do photosynthesis because in the process it develops ATP which can be used as energy and can be broken down into ADP for the release of energy. So in short plants do photosynthesis for energy.
