To solve this, you need to isolate/get the variable "x" by itself in the inequality:

4x + 1 > 6x + 5      Subtract 4x on both sides

4x - 4x + 1 > 6x - 4x + 5

1 > 2x + 5  Subtract 5 on both sides

1 - 5 > 2x + 5 - 5

-4 > 2x       Divide 2 on both sides to get "x" by itself

[tex]\frac{-4}{2} >\frac{2x}{2}[/tex]

-2 > x
