y=9 so rewrite the equation like this:


5x-2(9)=12

Multiply -2 by 9:


5x-18=12

Cancel out the -18:


5x-18=12
+18 +18


5x=30


Divide both numbers by 5:


5x/5 = 30/5


As an answer, you will get x=6:
