Length: 2w - 5

Width: w

2(2w - 5) + 2w = 44

Distribute:

4w - 10 + 2w = 44

Combine like terms:

6w - 10 = 44

Move 10 to the other side:

6w = 54

Divide by 6:

w = 9, which is the width. That means that 13 is the length.
