Explain why the phrase "the laws of nature & nature's god, was included in the Declaration of Independence

Jefferson wrote the laws of nature and nature's God to explain upon what principles revolutionaries were entitled to break the bond with Britain. When he states the laws of nature he means logic that it is how nature works and he states God's nature  to be universal. He wanted to say everybody's God.
