I think the Unites States became a world power because of the battles we have won ,we have shown our power and our skills in battle. But, then we have also became a world power because of our leaders and how we have negotiated & made deals that make us great.
I think because we have won so many battles and because we are free and others aren't so, we have POWER!!!
