2x + 5 - 6x + 21 = 2(3x - 5) - 4

distribute

2x+5 -6x +21 = 6x-10 -4

combine like terms

-4x +26 = 6x -14

add 4x to each side

26 = 10x -14

add 14 to each side

40 = 10x

divide by 10

4 =x
