To find the point of intersection, you have to set them equal to each other.

[tex]1 - 2x = x - 5\\\\-2x - x = -5 - 1\\\\-3x = -6\\\\x = 2[/tex]

To find the y-value, plug in 2 into one of the equations:

y = 2 - 5

y = -3

Point of intersection: (2, -3)
