Simplify 1/3x to x/3

y = -x/3 - 9

Add 9 to both sides

y + 9 = -x/3

Multiply both sides by 3

(y + 9) * = -x

Regroup terms

3(y + 9) = -x

Using the formula, rewrite in standard form

Answer: x + 3y = -27
