If Earth's rate of rotation increased, what would change?

Currently, the earth's rate of rotation around its own axis is 24 hours: this determines the length of a day and if the rotation would increase, the day would be shorter.

Did you know that the rate actually decreases with time? the day now is about 1 millisecond longer now than in 1900!
