The type of mass movement where rock fragments become airborne is Rock Avalanches (airborne).   Rock Avalanches is most spectacular - at 125miles/hr rapid sliding and falling - capacity to become airborne cuts avalanche chute to be repeatedly used, forms talus (debris deposit at angle of repose).
