In golf, there are pretty much terms for everything, like with any sport.  The stick with the piece of triangular cloth is called the flag, the circular spot on the ground dug out for the flag to placed in is called the hole, and the area within which the hole is dug and the flag is placed is called “the green,” which is a green area of short-cut grass.
