Answer: Looking at the bright side could mean  be thankful for the times you've had, a good example is the news of a loved one who may pass soon. You can't be super sad,  you should be thankful for the memories you have. If someone is putting you down, just remember that you live up to your own standards. You should not care what people think of you. That's looking on the bright side. Live for yourself and no one else.
